Regional Railroad Locations

The purpose of this part of the site is to highlight some locations in the Galesburg region. While visiting Galesburg, you may wish to venture out of town and explore some of these. I have found that doing so helps one gain an overview of a particular railroad and it's "flavor" by seeing the towns that are/were served by it. In these highlights, I try to include not only pictures from the past, but also what these locations look like today. Given the general decline of America's rail service over the decades, the natural tendency among rail enthusiasts seems for one to become a "railroad archeaologist" of sorts. Therefore, I offer my discoveries here for you to see. Here is a map of some places to discover:
